The Deputy Chairman of the Plateau Youth Council (PYC), Bokkos Local Government Area chapter, Comr. Danat Lekkes Dimas, has condemned the recent attack on Kawel community in Mushere District, describing it as a painful reminder of the persistent insecurity affecting parts of the district.
Speaking in Bokkos, Dimas noted that although the latest incident was the first recorded attack on Kawel community, Mushere District has suffered repeated attacks over the years, leaving many families displaced and grieving.
> “The attack on Kawel is unacceptable. While this may be the first attack on the community, Mushere District has endured repeated violence for too long. Our people deserve to live in peace.”
He expressed sympathy to families who lost loved ones and those injured during the attack, praying for God’s comfort and healing in this difficult period.
The youth leader called on security agencies to intensify operations across Mushere District and ensure those behind the attack are arrested and prosecuted.
> “The perpetrators of this heinous act must not be allowed to go unpunished. Security agencies must act swiftly to restore confidence among our people.”
Dimas also urged the Federal and Plateau State governments to strengthen security presence in vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks and safeguard lives and property.
> “Government must take decisive steps to end these senseless killings. The lives of our people are sacred and must be protected.”
He appealed to residents, especially young people, to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and continue supporting security agencies with credible information that will help tackle criminal activities.
The PYC deputy chairman reaffirmed the council’s commitment to promoting peace, unity, and justice, insisting that lasting security remains essential for the development of Bokkos Local Government Area.
