As part of its five-day program, the 13th National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) paid a courtesy visit to the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Royal Majesty, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, at his palace in Jishe, Jos North.

The delegation was led by Engr. Nadungu Gagare, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, who represented the Minister during the visit. The engagement aimed to involve traditional leaders in Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

Engr. Gagare extended warm greetings from the Federal Ministry and NCCIDE to His Royal Majesty and the people of Plateau State. He thanked the state government for hosting the 13th National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

He emphasized the crucial role of traditional institutions in fostering community cohesion, digital literacy, and grassroots participation in the innovation ecosystem. Engr. Gagare noted that building a digitally empowered Nigeria requires the support and trust of community leaders.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, he praised His Royal Majesty’s leadership and commitment to peace, unity, and sustainable development. Engr. Gagare assured that the federal government would continue working closely with traditional institutions to ensure all Nigerians benefit from digital opportunities.

In response, the Gbong Gwom Jos welcomed delegates to Plateau State and expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry and NCCIDE for choosing the state to host the conference. He said the presence of participants demonstrated confidence in Plateau State despite past challenges.

HRM Da Jacob Gyang Buba stressed the need for personal responsibility in promoting peace and unity. He also encouraged participants to preserve Nigeria’s history, culture, and traditions while advancing technological development.

He further commended the work of technocrats and scientists, urging them to guide policymakers and ensure that technological innovations benefit all Nigerians. HRM concluded by wishing delegates a fruitful and productive stay in Plateau State.

Delivering a vote of thanks, Mr. Lamba Peter Bot, Permanent Secretary of the Plateau State Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, appreciated the warm reception from His Royal Majesty. He noted that insights shared during the visit would strengthen the Council’s deliberations.

Mr. Bot also thanked the Federal Ministry’s delegation, the Plateau State Commissioner, council members, development partners, and the media for their support. He expressed gratitude to the Plateau State Government and its people for their hospitality, hoping that the bonds forged would enhance efforts toward a vibrant and inclusive digital economy.
