The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a suspected major arms dealer, Musa Abubakar, believed to be a key supplier of weapons to armed groups operating in Plateau State and parts of northern Nigeria.

Abubakar was picked up on November 12, 2025, following what officials described as precise and credible intelligence on his activities.

According to a DSS source, “The suspect confessed to having manufactured and distributed high-caliber weapons and ammunition to armed groups involved in violent attacks in Plateau State and other northern regions.”

Operatives reportedly conducted a targeted raid on his alleged arms manufacturing workshop in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.

A security source said, “Abubakar was apprehended red-handed with various Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components, chemicals, and equipment, which have all been confiscated by DSS operatives.”

The arrest comes shortly after the recapture of Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee linked to the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks.

The DSS says the series of recent breakthroughs highlights its determination to combat terrorism and strengthen national security across the country.

It will be recalled that the agency recently arrested nine high-profile suspects connected to attacks in Plateau and Benue States, including Timna Manjol, 46, who has already pleaded guilty to two of the four charges against him, including unlawful possession of firearms.

Manjol, a member of First Baptist Church, Mangu LGA of Plateau State, is standing trial in a case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/451/2025.
