The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Christopher Musa says the military remains committed to the protection of the lives and property of Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion.

According to him, “The military is nonpartisan and apolitical and will do everything possible to protect the territorial integrity of the country from external aggression.”

Speaking when he paid a familiarization visit to the leadership of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs at the National Mosque, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, on Friday, General Musa said that the essence of the visit was to strengthen the relationship between the Nigerian armed forces and religious leaders across the country.

He assured, “The Military remains committed to the protection of the lives and property of Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion.”

The Chief of Defence Staff enjoined religious leaders in the country to use their positions to foster the peace and unity needed for the socio-economic development of the country.

According to Gen. Musa, it is only with peace and unity that development can be achieved in all spheres of life in the country.

The Chief Imam of the Central Mosque, Sheikh Professor Ibrahim Ahmad Maqari and other Imams in attendance thanked the military Chief for the visit and assured that they would continue to promote peace in their sermons and would do everything to ensure the maintenance of peace and unity among all Nigerians.
