Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, better known as M.I Abaga, has discussed how marriage has impacted his life and career.
The 43-year-old revealed that his wife, Eniola Mafe, was the first person to invest in his creative agency, TASCK. According to him, the very first cheque that supported the company came from her.
“She has been the most supportive person in my life,” he said on Outside The Box podcast.
M.I explained that Eniola does more than just provide financial support. She records his shows, reviews his designs, and even writes long notes about his music.
“Sometimes she gives me a ten-page review before I even finish an idea,” he added.
The rapper, who married Eniola in September 2022, said marriage has given him peace and balance. “For the first time, I don’t feel like I’m carrying everything alone,” he admitted.
Looking back at his career, he recalled that his hit song African Rapper No.1 was one of the hardest tracks he ever wrote, even though it sounds simple.
On politics, M.I said he once supported the APC in 2015 because he wanted change. However, he later realised he had underestimated Nigeria’s challenges.
In the 2023 elections, he voted differently—supporting Peter Obi for president, the PDP for Senate, and Banky W for House of Representatives.
For now, M.I say his focus is on advocacy and building a legacy through TASCK and nonprofit work. “The war continues. Our job is to leave more than we take,” he concluded.
