The University of Jos chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called on its members to embark on a strike to protest the non-payment of their June 2025 salaries.
In the directive, which was contained in a message issued on Thursday night by Prof Jurbe Molwus, the Chairman of ASUU in the institution, all members are to commence the strike action from Friday, July 5th.
“This is to request all members to abstain from lectures and statutory meetings if our salary for June 2025 is not paid by 11:59 pm today, 3rd July 2025,” the message reads.
“This is in line with the extant NEC resolution that branches should take action when salary is not paid by the third day of a new month, and our congress resolution of 4th June 2025 affirming this position.
“The action takes effect from 12:01 am on Friday, 4th July 2025.
“Please ensure full compliance until you are informed to resume work.
“The strike monitoring team of the branch will be activated to monitor compliance.”
