Arc. Sylvanus Dongtoe, the Plateau State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, has reiterated the government’s determination to complete its urban renewal agenda. Speaking to newsmen in Jos, Dongtoe assured that the administration is fully committed to transforming Plateau State through infrastructure development.

Dongtoe emphasized that the state’s urban renewal efforts aim to improve infrastructure and raise living standards. He said, “We will not rest until Plateau’s urban renewal is complete,” reaffirming the government’s dedication to ensuring the full execution of its plans.

He highlighted key ongoing projects, including the Gwarandok Road Network, Namwa Junction and the Gyel to Mercy Seed Road, which had previously been neglected. These projects, Dongtoe noted, are vital for improving traffic flow and boosting economic activity.

“These roads are not just for easier transportation but are critical for our economy,” he explained, adding that better infrastructure would lead to job creation and easier market access for businesses.

Dongtoe also spoke about the extension of the Jos Master Plan to include local governments such as Mangu, Riyom, and Langtang North. This, he said, would help develop rural areas into urban cities and balance the state’s overall development.

Regarding housing, Dongtoe disclosed that the Renewed Hope Housing Scheme, in partnership with the federal government, is aimed at reducing the housing deficit. He mentioned that construction in Bisichi is scheduled to begin by April.

The commissioner called on the media to support the government’s efforts by providing accurate coverage of the state’s development projects. “We need the media to tell the positive side of Plateau’s story,” he urged.

Dongtoe assured that the administration is working to complete abandoned projects from previous governments, and pledged that they are committed to delivering the benefits promised to Plateau’s citizens.

He emphasized that urban renewal is about more than just infrastructure; it’s about improving the quality of life for all residents of Plateau. “This renewal is about our people,” Dongtoe said.

The commissioner affirmed that the government will continue to push forward with its agenda until its vision for Plateau State is fully realized. “We will not rest until Plateau’s urban renewal is complete,” he concluded.
