Gunmen attacked the Shendai community in Quaanpan Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing one person and abducting four others. The incident occurred on Saturday, leaving the residents in shock and fear.

According to reports, the assailants stormed their victims’ residence, shooting one person dead before abducting four others. This latest attack has heightened the already existing fears over the rising cases of insecurity in the area.

Christopher Manship, Chairman of Quaanpan Local Government Area, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Danaan Sylvanus. Manship expressed deep concern over the increasing rate of kidnappings and other criminal activities.

The chairman extended his condolences to the families of the victims and called for the swift release of those abducted. He also urged security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the kidnapped persons and ensure the safety of the affected communities.

In response to the attack, Manship led a fact-finding team, accompanied by security officials headed by Lt. Col. Ogunrinde Soji, to assess the situation in the affected areas. The visit aimed to understand the impact of the incident and ensure appropriate measures are taken.

The council chairman assured residents of his administration’s commitment to their safety and security, pledging to work closely with security agencies for the prompt rescue of the abducted victims. Lt. Col. Soji also promised thorough investigations and reinforced the military’s commitment to protecting the community.
