On Wednesday, the Plateau State Police Command reported that a total of 77 stolen cows had been found in the state.

The cows were taken from a herder in Bauchi State by thieves, who then relocated them to Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State before they were found by the police, according to the command’s spokesman, Alabo Alfred, who made this announcement in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement reads, “On 19/09/2023, we received credible information at the Bashar Police Division that on 11/9/2023, a number of cows belonged to one Alhaji Idris Yunusa, the Galadiman Yuli Duguri, had been stolen by unidentified criminals from Gajin Duguri village, Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State.

The cows were reportedly stolen from a herder when they were grazing and transferred into the Odare woodland in Kampani Zurak village, Wase Local Government Area, according to the intelligence report.

“When the criminals saw the policeman, they ran into the neighbouring woodlands. Nevertheless, 77 cows were found and returned to their owner. The police have stepped up their efforts to apprehend the offenders and ensure that they bear the full brunt of their actions.

In the statement, CP Okoro Alawari, the state’s commissioner of police, assured the residents of Plateau State of his unflinching dedication to maintaining the security and safety of all state citizens.

In order to assist the police in preventing crime and criminal activity in the state, the police chief urged the citizens to exercise caution, report any suspicious persons or activities, and offer helpful, timely, and correct information.
