The 3 Division Garrison has emerged overall best at the just concluded 3 Division Inter-Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition 2025, held at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.

The Competition, which commenced on Monday, brought together various brigades under the 3 Division to test their strength, skills, and endurance in a series of highly competitive exercises.

The competition featured Tug of War, Combat Swimming, Map Reading, 10km Combat Race, Weapon Handling, and Obstacle Crossing, all designed to enhance combat readiness and teamwork among troops.

At the end of the keenly competition, the 3 Division Garrison proved their resilience and professionalism by clinching the overall top position with an impressive total of 580 points. They were followed closely by 43 Engineer Brigade in 2nd place with 520 points, while 23 Brigade secured the 3rd position with 450 points.

Others include 33 Brigade who came 4th with 440 points, and 6 Brigade finished 5th with 410 points.

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General EF Oyinlola, commended officers and soldiers for their commitment and resilience throughout the combat proficiency competition. He described the competition as more than just contests but a platform to sharpen combat skills, strengthen bonds, and prepare troops for evolving security challenges.

He stressed that the competition was designed not only to test strength but also to evaluate precision, discipline, endurance, and tactical thinking. According to him, the Nigerian Army must remain agile and combat-ready at all times to meet the demands of modern security operations.

“Whether you stand here as the overall champion or not, know that you are all winners in your own right. Every officer who ran, shot, navigated, or competed has contributed collectively to the efficiency of our great division. And for that, we all deserve a rounded applause.”

While congratulating 3 Division Garrison for emerging overall champions, Major General Oyinlola reminded them that victory comes with responsibility. He urged them to set the pace and serve as an example for others, while encouraging other brigades to see their performance as a chance to learn and prepare better for the future.

He also appreciated the Chief of Army Staff for his commitment to transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-trained and combat-ready force.

Major A. Abdullahi, in his vote of thanks, appreciated Almighty God for the gift of life, good health, and the safe conduct of the competition. He also expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for approving funds and to the special guest of honor for honoring the invitation despite his busy schedule.

He commended the Commander 3 Division Garrison for his leadership, as well as brigade commanders and team leaders for preparing their teams. He also praised all brigades for their courage, discipline, and endurance, noting that they upheld the fighting spirit of the Nigerian Army.

He thanked the planning committees, umpires, judges, medical teams, and all who contributed to the success of the event. Finally, he congratulated the winning formation, encouraged others to see the competition as a learning process, and wished everyone safe journeys back to their destinations.
