A coalition of coordinators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) volunteer support groups across Plateau State has called on former governorship aspirant, Mr. Alfred Dapal, to return to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The appeal was made in a press briefing by the Acting Chairman, Pharm. Stephen A. Amunkai, the Acting Secretary, Bamshak Dayal and other members of the coalition on February 10, 2026 in Jos.

According to the Acting Chairman, the PDP volunteer support groups drawn from all 17 local government areas of the state described Mr. Dapal as a dependable and seasoned leader whose contributions to the party remain significant.

The groups praised his calm disposition, generosity, and philanthropic gestures, noting that he stood firmly with the PDP during some of its most challenging moments.

In a communiqué issued after their meeting, the coalition said, “We hereby extend a heartfelt invitation to all aggrieved and former members of the PDP in Plateau State, particularly Mr. Alfred Dapal, to return to the party and participate actively in its revitalization and restructuring.”

The communiqué further stated, “We stand ready to receive our brothers and sisters warmly as we work together towards building a Plateau State that is more united, just, and prosperous for all citizens.”

The support groups emphasized that the current direction of the PDP is focused on reflecting the collective will of stakeholders through justice, inclusivity, and participatory democracy.

They noted that Mr. Dapal’s return would symbolize reconciliation and a renewed commitment to the founding principles of the party.

According to the coalition, the reintegration of respected leaders would further strengthen the PDP’s internal cohesion as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

The groups also reaffirmed that the PDP remains the party of the Plateau people, anchored on unity, equity, and shared sacrifice.

They expressed confidence that welcoming back leaders like Mr. Dapal would enhance the party’s capacity to mobilize and reposition itself ahead of future electoral contests.

The Coalition reaffirmed the strength of the party despite recent political developments, insisting that PDP remains deeply rooted across the state’s structures at local, state, and national levels.

“We want to assure you that PDP is strong, nothing has happened. The governor only left the party with some of his appointees. He did not leave the party with the party structure.”

The group also used the medium to call on former members who left the party after the 2023 elections to return, stressing that the PDP is now repositioning and ready for renewed leadership across Plateau State.

“We think that Alfred Dapal coming to the PDP now will boost the viability of the party, boost the acceptability of the party across the 17 local governments of Plateau State. So yes, if Alfred Dapal will come, we’re actually asking him to come and take the leadership, and taking the leadership for him to properly lead.”

The coordinators further expressed confidence in Alfred Dapal’s capacity, noting that should he decide to return and contest future elections, he would enjoy the full backing of the PDP support groups due to his leadership qualities and track record of keeping his word.
