Prince Miaphen, a former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Mikang, Shendam, and Qua’an Pan Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The declaration, held at Mariot Hall in Shendam LGA, drew the presence of elected chairmen, councillors, party leaders, government appointees, NANS Executives, and key stakeholders from the three local government areas and beyond.

While declaring his intention, Prince Miaphen described the move as a significant and long-awaited step in his journey of service, noting that his ambition to represent the people of Mikang, Shendam, and Qua’an Pan Federal Constituency has been nurtured over the years through active leadership and grassroots engagement.
He highlighted his background as a student leader, youth activist, and social commentator, stressing that his experiences have prepared him for national service and strengthened his resolve to contribute meaningfully to the development of his constituency.
“This is a bold and symbolic step for me. Having served in various capacities from my early years to becoming a youth activist and social crusader, I believe the time has come to represent my people at the National Assembly,” he said.
Speaking on what he intends to bring to the office, Miaphen emphasized qualities such as capacity, innovation, and inclusive leadership, assuring constituents of a people-oriented approach anchored on humility, truth, and service.
“I will bring intellectual capacity, youthfulness, and better ideas. I am ready to serve with the fear of God, consult widely, and ensure that we deliver the positive change that our people truly deserve,” he added.
He further outlined his priorities to include improving agriculture, empowering farmers, enhancing healthcare in rural areas, and promoting youth and women inclusion through entrepreneurship and development-driven policies.

Speaking During the event, The APC Chairman of Shendam Local Government Area, Hon. Nuhu Rangmen, described Prince Miaphen as a credible and tested candidate, noting that his leadership qualities have been evident over the years through active involvement in student and community-based organizations.
Rangmen expressed confidence in Miaphen’s ability to deliver effective representation, stating that his track record over the years demonstrates capacity and commitment, adding that he believes the aspirant will perform even better than previous representatives if elected.

Also speaking, The Executive Chairman of Shendam LGA, Hon. Nicholas Kemi Nshe, represented by his Deputy, Hon. Goeboro Mutjap Paul, described Prince Miaphen’s declaration as a step in the right direction, noting that his ambition has been long nurtured and backed by a strong record of leadership and service.
He expressed confidence in the aspirant’s capacity to make a meaningful impact, citing his experience, clear vision, and understanding of the constituency’s challenges, adding that Miaphen’s zeal and commitment to addressing pressing issues would set him apart and bring positive change if elected.

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olusola Oladoja, expressed strong support for Prince Miaphen’s bid, emphasizing the need for youthful leadership. He noted that young people are no longer leaders of tomorrow but of today, and that Miaphen’s fresh approach could bring better results to governance.
Oladoja described Miaphen as a trusted and tested leader with a proven track record in student welfare and advocacy. He assured the people of Mikang, Shendam, and Qua’an Pan that Miaphen’s leadership would bring positive change and meaningful development to the constituency.
