The United States government has condemned the terrorist attack on rice farmers on Saturday, in Zabarmari area of Borno State, Nigeria by Boko Haram.

The US government made this known in a statement by the public affairs department of its Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria.

The statement read, “The United States condemns in the strongest terms the November 28 violent attack in Borno, Nigeria. The United States offers our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those killed or kidnapped.

“These abhorrent attacks are a stark reminder of why the United States stands with the Nigerian government and people as they fight to defeat terrorism and work to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

The terrorists had reportedly tied up the farmland workers and cut their throats.

The victims were mostly rice farmers in Zabarmari, a community in Jere Local Government Area, with residents saying at least 43 farmers were killed.

Boko Haram insurgency, has claimed thousands of lives in mainly the North-east, since 2009 with millions of others displaced.
