He explained that the APC would strictly follow the provisions of the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution in selecting candidates for elective offices. According to him, aspirants will have equal opportunities to contest without discrimination.

He reiterated his three-point reform agenda anchored on inclusive leadership, transparent governance, and renewed grassroots mobilization, describing them as the pillars upon which the Plateau APC must stand to remain competitive and cohesive.
“Our mission is clear inclusive leadership, transparent governance, and renewed grassroots mobilization. We are determined to ensure that every member, from the ward to the state level, feels a sense of belonging and purpose”.
The chairman emphasized that quality and proactive leadership entails safeguarding the interests of party members, strengthening reconciliation mechanisms, and ensuring fairness in decision-making processes.

According to him, rebuilding trust within the party remains paramount.

They commended his consultative approach and described his leadership as instrumental in repositioning the APC’s structures across the 17 local government areas, as well as providing the capacity and leadership that encouraged Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang to defect to the APC.
Political observers interpret the widespread endorsements of Hon. Rufus Bature as a strong vote of confidence in his stewardship, particularly at a time when cohesion and strategic planning are critical to the party’s future electoral prospects.
Bature has disclosed plans to intensify consultations with ward and local government executives to further energize the party’s base and expand membership.

]]>From party faithfuls at the grassroots to stakeholders across the 17 local government areas, a growing consensus is forming: the APC in Plateau State has found a unifier, a strategist and a builder in Hon. Rufus Bature, and many now openly call for his re-election to consolidate the gains recorded under his watch.
A Journey Built on Grit, Not Privilege
Hon. Rufus Bature’s political story is one of resilience and determination. Not born with a silver spoon, his rise to prominence has been driven by hard work, discipline and an unwavering belief in long-term vision over short-term gains.
A calculative and deft political mind,

Bature is known for shunning opportunistic politics, choosing instead to build enduring relationships anchored on trust, loyalty and shared purpose.
This approach explains his remarkable political journey, including his election twice into the Plateau State House of Assembly, even under opposition platforms—an achievement that underscored his grassroots appeal and political credibility.
Legislative Excellence and Political Courage
Between 1999 and 2007, Hon. Bature distinguished himself in the Plateau State House of Assembly as one of the most effective lawmakers of his era. His legislative contributions, clarity of argument and principled stance on issues of public importance earned him wide respect among colleagues and observers alike. Rising to become Minority Leader, he demonstrated uncommon courage and leadership at a time when opposition politics demanded conviction and sacrifice.
His decision to align with the then relatively unknown All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State was, by many accounts, a classic David-versus-Goliath gamble. Yet, Bature stood firm when it mattered most. As Director-General of the Lalong/Tyoden Campaign Council, he played a central role in leading the APC to a resounding victory, effectively changing the political narrative of the state.
Administrative Wizardry and Governance Impact
Hon. Bature’s leadership credentials were further cemented during his tenure as Secretary to the Plateau State Government (SGS) under the Rescue Administration of Sen. Simon Bako Lalong. At a time when Plateau State yearned for stability, his administrative acumen contributed significantly to restoring relative peace and improving governance structures.
His experience at the highest level of state administration provided him with a deep understanding of governance, coordination and consensus-building—qualities that would later define his success as APC State Chairman.
Standing Firm When Others Wavered
Since 2013, Hon. Rufus Bature has remained steadfast in the APC, even during periods when the political tide pushed many party members into the opposition PDP. While others defected, he stayed, nurtured and defended the party through difficult times. That loyalty, party insiders say, laid the foundation for today’s APC dominance in Plateau State.
His eventual emergence as State Chairman of the APC, through consensus after other aspirants stepped down, reflected not just political goodwill but also widespread confidence in his leadership capacity.
Building One APC Family
Former Governor Sen. Simon Bako Lalong aptly described the APC in Plateau as “one huge family,” a sentiment widely credited to the inclusive leadership style of Hon. Bature. The peaceful and consensus-driven state congress that produced the current executive committee was hailed as a testament to party maturity, unity of purpose and internal democracy.
Under Bature’s leadership, internal rancour gave way to dialogue, factionalism yielded to cooperation, and the party emerged stronger and more cohesive. This unity translated into electoral success, most notably the APC’s clean sweep of all 17 local government areas in recent local government elections.
From PDP Stronghold to APC Home
Perhaps the most striking achievement of Hon. Rufus Bature’s tenure is the political realignment of Plateau State itself. Once regarded as a PDP stronghold, the state has now firmly embraced the APC, with the sitting Governor, Deputy Governor, State Executive Council members and Local Government Chairmen all defecting to the ruling party.
Notably, the Northern Zone, once a PDP fortress and Bature’s home base, has witnessed mass defections to the APC—including serving and former National Assembly members, former state lawmakers, commissioners and council chairmen. Political analysts attribute this shift largely to Bature’s reconciliatory approach and credibility across divides.
Calls for Continuity and Re-election
With unity restored and electoral victories recorded, party stakeholders now argue that continuity is essential. Many believe that allowing Hon. Rufus Bature to continue in office beyond 2027 will guarantee stability, deepen internal democracy and position the APC for sustained success.
Analysts maintain that his experience spanning legislative leadership, executive administration and party organization places him in a unique position to steer the APC to even greater heights. His loyalty to the National Secretariat and the founding ideals of the APC further strengthens his standing among party elders.
A Mandate Rooted in Performance
Across Plateau State, voices from National and State Assembly members, party elders, youths and women leaders are increasingly united in their endorsement of the current APC leadership. Their message is clear: performance should be rewarded, unity sustained and success consolidated.
As the APC in Plateau State looks to the future, one reality stands out the achievements recorded so far are inseparable from the dynamic, inclusive and capacity-driven leadership of Rt. Hon. Rufus Bature. In a political era desperate for credible leadership, his story offers a compelling case for continuity, stability and progress.

]]>Bature explained that the President has taken bold steps through far-reaching reforms aimed at securing the future of the country.
“ He noted that President TInubu means well for Nigeria and has gambled with his second tenure considering his far reaching reforms in all sectors but none the less urged every Nigerian to embrace the “Renewed Hope” agenda as there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
He urged Nigerians to be patient and embrace the Renewed Hope agenda, assuring that the current sacrifices will yield positive results.
The APC chairman also commended President Tinubu for appointing Plateau sons and daughters into strategic positions in government.
He particularly celebrated the appointment of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the APC National Chairman, describing him as a leader with vast experience.
“The APC Chairman said two years ago he would not have believed that a Plateau citizen would be natonal Chairman of the ruling party as he commended the President for reposing confidence in Professor Nentawe.”
Bature recalled the 2023 general elections, noting that it was not easy to convince Plateau people to support the Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“Going down memory lane the State party leader recalled that in the 2023 general election it was difficult to convince Plateau people to vote for a Muslim/Muslim ticket while observing that despite the setbacks the APC was able to come 12 in the presidential election in the State.”
Despite the challenges, he said the APC made its mark in the polls, showing the party’s resilience in Plateau State.
“Speaking further Mr Bature said he has never been part of the “Plateau party ” but has rather been on the side of the people in all his political pursuits as a sacrificial Iamb.”
He reaffirmed that the APC in Plateau remains committed to working with the federal government to deliver development and progress for the people.

]]>Supporters claimed Zi was unfairly treated in the Labour Party despite his popularity. They alleged he was sidelined for lacking a political godfather. Feeling more accepted in the APC, he joined the party with full commitment.

While declaring his defection at the APC secretariat in Kalwa House, Zi said the move followed careful consultation with allies who believe in his leadership. He acknowledged the role of his team and past candidates from the six LGAs who supported him.
Zi emphasized that his move to the APC is not for personal gain but to contribute to the party’s growth at both grassroots and national levels. He promised to serve with integrity and help strengthen the APC ahead of 2027.
“I assure you I will not fail in my responsibilities of growing and supporting this party by God’s grace,” he stated to loud applause.
Zi appreciated the support of APC leaders in Nigeria and the diaspora, especially Dr. Bernard Doro, Director of Finance APC UK, and others who encouraged his transition. He said their backing reflects the party’s unity and strength.

Plateau APC Chairman Hon. Rufus Bature welcomed Zi, describing him as a young man at the peak of his profession. He said Zi’s move would help advance President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and boost the APC’s presence in Plateau North.
Bature likened Tinubu’s reforms to a painful but necessary surgery and called for patience, assuring that the intentions were for Nigeria’s good. He expressed confidence in ongoing efforts to address insecurity in the state.
He also assured Zi of equal treatment within the APC, encouraging him to help rebuild the party in Plateau North. Bature described the defection as a strategic move and invited others to follow suit.
Among those who accompanied Zi were Dr. Bernard Dauda, APC Deputy Chairman UK; Dr. Bernard Doro, Director of Finance, APC UK; and Dr. Jasper Adeleye, Deputy Organizing Secretary, APC UK. Some former Labour Party candidates and PDP members from Plateau North also joined the APC.

]]>The post Plateau Assembly Speaker should be an APC member – Chairman, Bature says appeared first on CLUSTERCHANNEL.
]]>The Plateau State All Progressives Congress (APC), Chairman, Rufus Bature has said constitutionally given the fact that the APC is more in number in the State House of Assembly, is enough reason for his party to produce the Speaker.
He said that has not happened given the circumstances that allowed the APC Assembly members to be sworn-in.
Bature stated this on Thursday while speaking to our correspondent on some political issues in the State.
“The House of Assembly issue is a complicated issue that for whatever reasons, they have not been able to live as a Democratic House where the majority rules. You know the intricacies that were involved right from the onset, before they were able to swear in some of the members,
“They were sworn-in in badges, and I don’t think that hangover has left them.
“However, as a party we feel that they should do the needful by making the Speaker an APC member, because in democracy, the majority have their way.
“We are still hoping that the members of the APC in the house will do the needful. As Chairman, I have spoken to them to do what they are supposed to do because we don’t want a situation where we will put the House of Assembly on fire.
“As far as I am concerned, the House of Assembly is not properly constituted because of the position of the leadership”, he said.
On whether the APC is still strong in the State, Bature said the APC is alive and kicking on the Plateau, adding that the last local government elections is a testament that the party is still in the hearts of the electorates.
“If the results were truly announced by PLASIEC, the APC actually won 10 local governments. But as you know, it has become a tradition in Nigeria where the ruling party takes it all.
“This act is not peculiar to Plateau, it is a nationwide phenomenon, which is a wrong practice. It is not good for democracy. But like I said earlier, if the true result of the LGA elections were announced it would have been clear that the APC is alive on the Plateau.
“I am sure that the PDP are aware that come 2026 in the next LGA elections there will be a short down at the polls as a prelude to 2027”, he said.
