The Plateau Peace Building Agency (PPBA) has embarked on a critical evaluation of its strategic peace initiatives to better address the evolving conflict dynamics in Plateau State.
On August 13, the Agency hosted a one-day dialogue at Miango Rest Home, Bassa Local Government Area, led by Director-General Dr. Julie Sanda. The meeting focused on refining PPBA’s strategic approach, particularly in key areas like natural resource management, peace education, and post-conflict recovery.
The dialogue, which brought together key stakeholders, also involved a strategic review of “The Road Map to Peace,” a document that has guided the agency’s work since 2018. With the expiration of its initial five-year strategic plan, this review marks a pivotal moment for PPBA as it seeks to innovate and strengthen its operational framework.
Facilitated by Prof. Victor Adetula, the session introduced fresh perspectives and recommendations aimed at positioning PPBA as a leading force in global peacebuilding efforts. The Agency’s statement highlighted the importance of this exercise in ensuring it remains responsive to the state’s unique conflict challenges.
Expressing gratitude to the Plateau State Government and the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) for their support, the PPBA reaffirmed its commitment to fostering peace and harmony across Plateau State.
The Agency continues to work tirelessly to prevent conflicts and promote peaceful coexistence among the state’s diverse ethnic communities through collaborative approaches and ongoing dialogue.
