The police announced on Tuesday that they had arrested three suspected members of a gunrunning syndicate in connection with the Dec. 24 attack on some Plateau communities.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, stated this during a media conference in Abuja.

He stated that the arrests were made in response to an order from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Kayode Egbetokun, to implement tactical methods to bring the perpetrators of the incident to justice.

According to Adejobi, the suspects were found in possession of an ash-colored Golf car, one AK-47 rifle, one AK-49 rifle, 1,000 rounds of live ammo, and five magazines.

According to the police spokesman, attempts are being made to apprehend others engaged in the attacks, and the public will be kept updated as events evolve.

According to Adejobi, nine individuals were arrested by police on December 13, 2023, in connection with the attack and murder of three Fulanis in the Gaube region of the Kuje region Council of the FCT.

He stated that the suspects were apprehended in response to an allegation that three Fulanis travelling from Keffi, Nassarawa State, to Niger/Kwara states were ambushed and killed by unknown individuals.

According to the police spokesman, attempts are being made to apprehend others engaged in the attacks, and the public will be kept updated as events evolve.

According to Adejobi, nine individuals were arrested by police on December 13, 2023, in connection with the attack and murder of three Fulanis in the Gaube region of the Kuje region Council of the FCT.

He stated that the suspects were apprehended in response to an allegation that three Fulanis travelling from Keffi, Nassarawa State, to Niger/Kwara states were ambushed and killed by unknown individuals.

According to him, following the report, Special Tactical Squad (STS) agents sprang into action and apprehended nine people.

According to a police spokesman, six of the accused were hunters and forest guards from Kuje.

Adejobi stated that the suspects, who had confessed to the crime, had abandoned their bodies in Kabi forest and fled with their Bajaj motorbike to an unknown location in Takuba village, Kuje.

According to him, the corpses were photographed, rescued, inspected, and declared dead by a medical professional before being identified and sent to their families for burial.

He also stated that the deceased Bajaj motorcycle had been found, and that an inquiry into the incident was still ongoing.

Adejobi said police had also apprehended a suspected armed robbery and kidnapping kingpin terrorising Nasarawa State and its environs for possessing an AK 49 weapon and ammunition.

He said the suspect, who uses the riffle and ammunition for robbery and kidnapping activities, was arrested following credible intelligence.

The police spokesman said the suspect had confessed to the police, during investigation, that another suspect, currently at large was in possession of one AK 47 rifle, used by the gang to terrorise Nasarawa State.

According to him, efforts are in place through technical intelligence to arrest the fleeing suspect and recover the firearm.

Adejobi said a total of 67 suspects were arrested by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and the Special Tactical Squad (STS) of the Nigeria Police over various criminal offences.

He stated that 5,454 rounds of various calibres of live ammunition, 300 live cartridges, 68 guns, 19 different vehicle brands, and four motorcycles were collected from the suspects.

According to Adejobi, 23 daggers/swords, 50 empty ammo shells, 8 various handset models, one POS machine, and 33 different ATM cards were also seized.
