Youths in Plateau state have berated the Northern state Governors over the way they were handling the challenges facing the region.

The youths under the aegis of G17 who addressed a press conference in Jos on Tuesday said that it was unfortunate that instead of focusing on how to address the problem of insecurity, poverty and other challenges bedevilling the people of the north, the Lalong -led Northern Governors Forum had continued to dissipate energy on non essentials including social media regulation in the country

The youths who took turns to condemn the recent meeting by Northern Governors with other stakeholders in Kaduna where they expressed support for social Media bill currently before the National Assembly noted that what the people of the North needed was good governance from their Governors

They warned that any attempts to deny Nigerians their freedom of expression under any guise will be resisted by the people.

Joshua Sati who read the text on behalf of the youths also reminded Governor Lalong on the need to conduct Local Government election in four Council areas with Plateau North which were left out during the last poll.

He noted that the non conduct of the election was building tension in the affected areas and insisted that in a democracy, the people have the right to freely chose their leaders

The Plateau Youths maintained that, government must listen to its citizens and decide on the importance of promoting peace through good governance
