Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has unveiled plans to transform Plateau into a leading hub for medical tourism in Nigeria, emphasizing the state’s favorable climate and hospitable people.

This statement was issued by Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, on May 20th, 2024.

In a meeting with the House of Representatives Committee on Health Institutions, Governor Mutfwang stressed the need for increased funding for federal health institutions to curb the migration of healthcare professionals abroad and enhance nationwide healthcare standards.

Governor Mutfwang is committed to establishing additional Teaching Hospitals to improve doctor-to-patient ratios and has called for the prompt launch of the delayed Dental Department at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).

He also highlighted the importance of the National Assembly’s oversight in ensuring proper fund allocation, particularly for underfunded institutions like JUTH.

During a meeting with state security heads, including the Commandant of the Police Staff College, AIG Adebowale William, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, David Abi, and the State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, the Governor received pledges of support for promoting peace, security, and unity.

He stressed the importance of collective efforts in combating criminal and terrorist activities.
