The Plateau State Ministry of Higher Education has recorded significant achievements under the leadership of Commissioner Dr. (Mrs.) Kachallom Pyam Gang.
Through the support of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, over ₦1.5 billion was invested to secure full accreditation for all academic programs in the state’s tertiary institutions.
Institutions that benefited include Plateau State University, Bokkos; the Polytechnic in Barkin Ladi; the College of Education, Gindiri; and the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Vom.
Dr. Kachallom revealed that 19 new degree programs were approved for the College of Education, Gindiri, thereby expanding academic opportunities for students.
“We are proud to say that all our tertiary institutions have secured full accreditation for their academic programs,” the Commissioner stated.
She added that this feat was made possible through the determination of Governor Mutfwang to raise educational standards across the state.
In terms of infrastructure, the Ministry initiated the construction of a 150-capacity state-of-the-art conference center at Plateau State University.
It also commenced work on a two-story administrative complex at the state-owned Polytechnic to enhance management efficiency.
“We have also been able to renovate the Polytechnic clinic to a medical center and it is now operational to serve staff, students, and the HIPAA community,” she explained.
The Commissioner emphasized that the upgrades align with the government’s social responsibility goals and are geared towards community development.
“These projects are not just about buildings; they are investments in the future of our youths and the educational sector of Plateau State,” she affirmed.
Dr. Kachallom concluded by acknowledging the teamwork and cooperation of stakeholders that made these accomplishments possible.
