The Director General of the Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA), Mr. Samuel Nathaniel Dapiya, has launched a routine medical check-up program for the agency’s frontline workers, emphasizing his commitment to their health and well-being.
Recognizing the hazardous nature of their duties, the initiative, which began today, will focus on both preventive and curative healthcare.
During the program’s inauguration, Dr. Chomo Datiyi led a comprehensive health talk, stressing the importance of regular health checks. “Early detection of potential health issues is key to preventing more serious conditions,” Dr. Chomo explained, while also outlining the curative measures that would be available to address any health concerns identified during the check-ups.
Significant attention was given to occupational health, particularly concerning the risks staff face when handling dangerous waste materials. Mr. Dapiya and other management staff highlighted the critical importance of using protective equipment and strictly adhering to safety protocols to mitigate these risks.
As the initiative progresses, various medical tests will be conducted, and appropriate medical attention and support will be provided to the staff.
Mr. Dapiya also announced plans to conduct these health checks twice a year, stating, “This initiative reflects our commitment to safeguarding the health of our workforce, ensuring they remain fit and capable of continuing their vital work in environmental protection and sanitation.”
