The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has announced plans to conduct re-run elections for councillorship positions in nine wards across six Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. This decision follows the discovery of voting irregularities during the initial election.

In a recent statement, PLASIEC confirmed that additional wards have been included in the re-run elections based on a comprehensive post-election assessment. New wards added to the list are Fier and Mudkang Yelleng in Pankshin LGA, and Ampang East B in Kanke LGA.

The full list of wards where re-run elections will occur now includes:

– Bassa LGA: Kishika ward
– Langtang South LGA: Jemkur and Turaki wards
– Mangu LGA: Gindiri 2 and Kasuwan Ali wards
– Quaan Pan LGA: Luukwo ward
– Pankshin LGA: Fier and Mudkang Yelleng wards
– Kanke LGA: Ampang East B ward

The elections will take place across a total of 112 polling units, starting at 8:00 AM and concluding at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
