Her Excellency, Distinguished Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu, wife of Nigeria’s executive president, has contributed N500 million to victims of attacks in Plateau state’s Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos, Jos South, and Bassa local governments.
The first lady described the gesture as a “modest step” towards assisting afflicted families in healing from their wounds, rebuilding their lives, and resettling in their communities. She stated that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is devoted to fostering long-term peace and security for all communities in Nigeria.
While delivering a goodwill message, Plateau state governor, His Excellency Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, stated that he was lucky to be the first Nigerian governor to meet with the president’s wife, during which he was able to convey Plateau state’s problems with her. In light of these worries, she decided to visit the state in order to identify with the victims of the attacks and assist them in getting through their ordeals.
“We are fortunate on the Plateau; the fact that the president’s wife chose to visit Plateau state, a state governed by a party opposed to the ruling party at the national level, tells the story that after politics comes the business of governance,” the governor remarked. The governor stated that following his meeting with the first lady, she requested that the affected victims be shortlisted, and the state administration was able to compile the list from the six local governments of Mangu, Bokkos, Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Jos South, and Bassa. “Fortunately, the funds are being transferred immediately into bank accounts. Our job is to manage and monitor to guarantee that the money reaches the intended recipients. “We will provide a report on how the money was spent,” the governor added.
The first lady made a symbolic presentation to the governor, who then presented to the beneficiaries, each of whom received one million naira (N1m).
The Gbong gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, then gave a vote of thanks. The paramount ruler praised the first lady for the visit, as well as the tremendous love offered to the state, on behalf of the state government, the traditional council, and the entire residents of Plateau state. “We cannot express how grateful we are. God, in his boundless kindness, will always bless and strengthen you to continue reaching out to those in need. “We wish you a safe return and look forward to having you spend a weekend in Plateau state later,” the traditional ruler said.
The wife of the executive governor of Imo state and secretary Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Her Excellency, Barr. Chioma Hope Uzodimma, wife of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress and secretary/Director Education Renewed Hope Initiative, Prof. Hafsat Ganduje, and other distinguished personalities were in the first lady’s entourage.
