The Living Streams of Hope and Peace Building Foundation has extended heartfelt sympathies to families and individuals impacted by the severe flooding that hit Maiduguri, Borno State, early Tuesday morning.

The disaster, which caused widespread destruction to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods, has left the community grappling with the aftermath.

In a press statement released by Mr. Khalil Samuel, the foundation’s Head of Media and Publicity, the organization expressed its deep concern for those affected by the flood and called for swift action by the government. “We call upon the government of Borno State to expedite the provision of much-needed relief materials to the affected families,” the statement read. The foundation underscored the importance of immediate intervention to ensure that victims can begin to recover and regain a sense of normalcy.

The flood, which has affected large parts of the Maiduguri community, has sparked urgent concerns over the provision of shelter, food, and medical aid to those who lost homes and essential belongings. The organization stressed that timely delivery of relief supplies is critical in reducing the suffering of those displaced by the floodwaters.

Beyond the call for government action, the Living Streams of Hope and Peace Building Foundation encouraged local communities to rally in support of one another. “We also encourage communities and neighbours to come together in the spirit of solidarity and provide assistance in any way they can; whether through donations, volunteering, or simply offering a helping hand,” Samuel emphasized. He highlighted that collective efforts, from government authorities to everyday citizens, can significantly reduce the devastating impact of such disasters.

The foundation, known for its active role in peacebuilding and community support, emphasized that now is the time for all stakeholders to unite in helping the vulnerable recover. “Together, we can mitigate the impact of this disaster and begin the process of rebuilding,” Samuel added, expressing hope for the resilience of the Maiduguri community in these trying times.

As Maiduguri begins the long road to recovery, the Living Streams of Hope and Peace Building Foundation promised continued support and prayers for the affected individuals and families, urging swift action from all sectors to bring relief and hope to the devastated region.
