The Kano State government has revealed the rate of community transmission of COVID-19 in the state.
The head of the presidential task force on Coronavirus, Nasiru Gwarzo on Saturday said the rate of community transmission is ‘now at 80 percent’.
He said this during an interview with BBC Hausa.
According to him, about 80 percent of the samples received from communities in the state turned out positive for COVID-19.
The team leader of the PTF admitted that the state needs urgent intervention as Coronavirus is spreading to various areas.
Gwarzo said, “When about 100 samples are delivered, there are five to ten that are positive (for coronavirus).
“But now, when 100 samples are returned, about 80 are coronavirus cases.”
As of Friday, Kano recorded 92 cases and remains the second worst-hit state with 311 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
There have also been mysterious deaths recorded in the state.
Meanwhile, DAILY POST earlier reported that the Emir of Rano, Dr. Tafida Abubakar Ila II, died on Saturday after being hospitalized on Friday.
It is however not certain if the Emir’s death is related to COVID-19.
