Due to the recent outcry of Nigerians appealing to the Independent Electoral Commission to extend the voter’s card registration process, the body responded on the 11th of June via a tweet stating that it has heard and will work towards it.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, had suspended the Continuous Voter Registration CVR on the 30th of May as they plan to focus on the already registered voters ahead of the 2023 general elections. However, the complaints of concerned Nigerians made them to rethink their move since most eligible voters could not make it to the deadline.
In a tweet made by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu through the INEC official handle, he stated that the new date for the CVR commencement will be communicated to fellow Nigerians in due time. He also assured Nigerians that all votes will count and no eligible voters will be left behind.
We have heard your requests loud & clear. You will soon hear from us on extension of CVR registration.
Please assure me that you will register, pick your PVCs and Vote.
I also assure you that your vote will count.
