In a bid to foster education and enhance security to the good loving people of Jos South Local Government Area, Hon. Dalyop Isa’ac Gyang, the member representing Jos South constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, highlighted the value of security and education for the residents of his constituency in a recent interview at the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) Camp in Jos.

Hon. Dalyop, a long-time advocate for these issues, stressed the need of education in overcoming challenges and improving lives, particularly for those engaged in illegal mining.

Addressing Journalists in Jos, Hon. Dalyop highlighted that his decision to join politics was driven by the need to address critical issues such as security and education in Jos South. He noted that different districts in the area face unique security problems, ranging from kidnappings to clashes between farmers and herders. Dalyop expressed his commitment to finding lasting solutions by working with security agencies, Traditional rulers, local vigilantes, and community leaders.

On the topic of illegal mining, Dalyop advised miners to embrace education to expand their knowledge and improve their business skills. He explained that with proper education, miners could adopt safer and more efficient mining practices, which would help them thrive in the industry. “Miners must understand that knowledge is power, and by getting the right education, they can turn their businesses into profitable ventures,” he said.

Dalyop also proposed the establishment of workshops and seminars to educate not only miners but also farmers and herders in his constituency. He stated that these initiatives would help reduce conflicts and improve productivity. “We need to come together as a community to ensure that everyone, including miners, understands how education can change their lives for the better,” Dalyop remarked.

Hon. Dalyop Isa’ac Gyang spoke about the need to support security personnel in the constituency. He suggested that communities could contribute financially to sustain local vigilantes and hunters who assist in maintaining peace. “Security is everyone’s responsibility. By coming together and providing small financial support, we can strengthen our community’s defense,” he explained.

Hon. Dalyop also revealed plans to create a development committee in each district of Jos South to tackle the peculiar security and educational challenges faced by each community. According to him, these committees would work closely with traditional rulers and other stakeholders to create long-term solutions that benefit everyone.

Speaking on the value of education, Dalyop emphasized that many talented youths in Jos South are being held back by a lack of opportunities. He proposed scholarships and skill-development programs to help these youths reach their potential. “Education is not just about going to school; it is about gaining the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in life,” he added.

He further explained that by investing in education, the community could nurture future professionals in various fields, including engineering, law, and agriculture. “We have future doctors, engineers, and lawyers among our youth. It is our duty to ensure they receive the education they need to achieve their dreams,” Dalyop said.

Hon. Dalyop’s call for education and security as top priorities resonates with his constituents, particularly those engaged in mining, who could greatly benefit from the opportunities and knowledge that education offers.
