As part of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s rural development agenda, Dr. Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs, has commissioned an electricity transformer, bringing power to eight rural communities in Chugwi Ward, Vwang District, Jos South Local Government Area.

The official commissioning, held in Dalyoho community on Tuesday, saw residents celebrating the long-awaited electrification project. Dr. Bere thanked the communities for their continued support of Governor Mutfwang’s administration and reiterated the government’s commitment to rural electrification, which he said is crucial for driving economic growth and improving living conditions.

Highlighting Governor Mutfwang’s achievements in the power sector, Dr. Bere mentioned key initiatives such as the Memorandum of Understanding with the Rural Electrification Agency to provide solar power, and the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy to the Niger Delta Power Holding Company for electricity expansion in Southern and Central Plateau. He also referenced a collaboration with the European Union to power primary healthcare centers with solar energy, enhancing healthcare services in remote areas.

Dr. Bere emphasized the transformative impact of the newly installed transformer, which he believes will stimulate economic activity in the benefiting communities. He encouraged the youth to take advantage of this opportunity to pursue meaningful livelihoods rather than engaging in negative behaviors.

He further urged the community to safeguard the transformer and ensure the longevity of government projects in their area.

Several dignitaries attended the commissioning, including Hon. Gyang Amos, Councilor representing Chugwi Ward; Da Mandung Atyos, Da Gwom Chugwi; Hon. Ayuba Pam Dangwong, former Special Adviser to the Plateau State Governor; and representatives of the Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) Company.

They lauded Dr. Bere for spearheading the project and recognized the role of Hon. Dalyop Fom, former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, who had donated the transformer several years ago.

The speakers expressed gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for appointing Dr. Bere, commending him for staying connected to the grassroots and praying for his continued success in advancing the interests of rural communities.
