In a bold move to strengthen healthcare delivery across Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, The Executive Governor of Plateau State has emphasized his administration’s commitment to affordable and quality healthcare for all Plateau residents.
Governor Mutfwang Made this known during the commissioning of the Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency (PS-DMCMA) Pharma-Grade Warehouse and the Plateau State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (PLASEMSAS) in Jos.
In a statement issued by Dr. Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs, the Governor stated that the newly commissioned facilities mark a significant step toward achieving the goal. He stressed that his government is prioritizing the health sector, especially for underserved and rural communities, to improve overall living standards across the state.
“The launch of the Pharma-Grade Warehouse and PLASEMSAS is a testament to our dedication to delivering sustainable healthcare solutions,” the Governor stated. He highlighted that the warehouse’s modern infrastructure and the streamlined supply chain it supports will ensure that essential medicines reach all corners of Plateau State, eliminating delays and shortages that have previously hampered healthcare services.
Governor Mutfwang called on the health sector stakeholders to maintain the momentum in providing efficient services and urged them to continue working in unity to ensure that Plateau remains at the forefront of healthcare innovations in Nigeria. He added that through collaboration and strategic planning, his administration would continue to build on this progress to create a healthier future for every Plateau citizen.
The Governor also expressed his appreciation for the support of international partners, including the Global Fund and USAID, whose contributions have been instrumental in funding these healthcare initiatives. He encouraged further collaboration between the state government and international agencies to sustain the advancements being made in the health sector.
Additionally, he pointed out that the emergency medical services introduced through PLASEMSAS would significantly reduce the mortality rate in emergency situations by ensuring rapid response and immediate medical care at no cost for the first 48 hours. Governor Mutfwang stressed that this initiative removes the financial burdens often associated with emergency healthcare, providing timely support when it is needed the most.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Ms. Kachollom S. Daju, echoed the Governor’s sentiments and reiterated the Ministry’s focus on extending healthcare services to rural communities. She emphasized the importance of maintaining the facilities and ensuring that they continue to serve the needs of the people effectively.
Governor Mutfwang concluded by pledging to continue enhancing the state’s healthcare infrastructure, promising that his administration would explore additional ways to improve healthcare delivery and make it more accessible to every Plateau resident.
