Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has said he left David de Gea out of his squad for the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace because of “personal reasons”.

Solskjaer gave Dean Henderson a rare start in the Premier League at Selhurst Park.

Henderson went on to make a key save late in the game to preserve a point, denying Patrick van Aanholt in the game’s final moments.

When asked about De Gea’s absence from the squad prior to the game, Solskjaer told MUTV: “That’s personal reasons.”

After the match, Solskjaer would not be drawn on any more details. Asked by Sky Sports when De Gea would return, he said: “That’s a private matter. It’ll take the time it takes.”
