Following the defection of Hon. (Amb.) Daniel Asama Ago, Member representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), several constituents and concerned citizens from Plateau State have voiced strong disapproval and disappointment over his decision.

The lawmaker had earlier explained that his move to the APC was a “strategic and progressive step” aimed at enhancing service delivery and advancing development in his constituency. However, many of his supporters saw the defection as an act of betrayal and political opportunism.

David Zoyong criticized the move, saying it symbolized ingratitude to the platform that brought him to power.

“His decision is an apt description of the phrase ‘biting the fingers that fed you’. No explanation can substitute that,”
Zoyong stated.

Another constituent, Tony Luka, accused the lawmaker of turning his back on the people’s mandate.

“People left the APC to vote, and you run to APC without giving a second thought about the people’s mandate. You are not a Honourable member,”
Luka said.

For Onix J. Mark, the defection reflects a broader political agenda to weaken opposition voices.

“They are determined to kill PDP by fire by force. It is just horrible. People are forgetting that the majority is always wrong ooo! Anyways, good luck to him,”
Mark remarked.

Paul Jamaka described the move as a sign of political cowardice.

“Explainary come to 2027, you see the cowardness you decided,”
he commented.

In a similar tone, Adeniyi Suleman predicted that the lawmaker’s political career would fade away.

“Political oblivion awaits him. Femi, Akume, Ribadu, and others never left Tinubu in ACN and AD — that’s why today they are the cabal,”
Suleman noted.

Macarthy Kefas went further to describe the defection as dishonourable.

“The one-time Honourable has dishonourably propelled himself into political oblivion. Let him enjoy the little millions he has saved for his retirement. Plateau people know what they want,”
Kefas said.

Also reacting, Obed J. L. Obed said Asama’s defection was disappointing and exposed his ungratefulness.

“He just proved himself to be one of those ungrateful politicians we have. Hmmm, what a show of shame,”
he lamented.

Joshua Gabriel faulted Asama’s justification for the defection, saying it revealed self-interest.

“He said everything in the first sentence of the second paragraph. I can’t read further. His decision was born out of personal ambition. It’s about him, not the people,”
Gabriel stated.

John Sunday questioned the sincerity of Asama’s claim of wide consultation.

“Na 2027 go decide if he truly consulted critical stakeholders,”
Sunday wrote.

Similarly, Longs Darshak advised the lawmaker to resign if he wished to maintain integrity.

“It is disheartening that you rally round a politician and it turns out this way. If you want to justify your move, resign from Labour Party, resign as member representing Jos North/Bassa Constituency, and then join APC. If you do this, your integrity will remain. So don’t even dream of second tenure,”
Darshak said.

Nkwiri Emmanuel vowed that the people would not forget the decision by 2027.

“We’ll retire you in politics by God’s grace. You never know what we went through just to get you into office. Go and hide your underperformance in the APC. In 2027, you shall return to us pleading for our support, and we’ll remind you of this uncalculated decision,”
Emmanuel declared.

The reactions underscore the growing tension among constituents who feel betrayed by their representative’s move, raising questions about his political future ahead of the 2027 general elections.
