Comrade Julius Chindo Dafat, a vibrant youth from Rock Haven and the Busa Buji area of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, has declared his intention to contest for the position of Vice Chairman of the Rock Haven Youth Forum.

Dafat said his aspiration is driven by a commitment to promote unity, strengthen peaceful coexistence and support the leadership of the forum in advancing the collective aspirations of youths across the cosmopolitan community.

Speaking on his vision, the vice chairmanship hopeful said he was bringing his wealth of experience in youth engagement, community development and peacebuilding to complement the Chairman and ensure the forum remained a platform for progress, inclusion and shared responsibility.

According to him, the strength of every community lies in its ability to unite despite differences, stressing that Rock Haven has enormous potential that can only be fully realised through cooperation and mutual respect.

“My aspiration is not about personal ambition but about service. I am coming with my experience, ideas and commitment to work with the Chairman and every stakeholder to strengthen unity, peaceful coexistence and purposeful leadership within our community.”

Dafat noted that as a diverse and cosmopolitan community, Rock Haven requires leaders who can listen, build consensus and bridge differences among residents.

“Our diversity should remain our greatest strength. We must continue to build bridges across ethnic, religious and social divides, while creating an atmosphere where every young person feels valued, respected and given equal opportunities to contribute.”

The youth leader pledged to champion initiatives that would empower young people through skills acquisition, mentorship and community-driven programmes capable of reducing idleness and promoting productivity.

He also promised to encourage dialogue as a tool for resolving misunderstandings, saying sustainable peace can only thrive where communication, tolerance and mutual respect are given priority.

“Peace is built through understanding, trust and continuous engagement. My focus will be to promote dialogue, encourage youth participation in community development and ensure that every voice is heard in our decision-making process.”

Dafat further assured members that, if elected, he would support policies that foster transparency, accountability and teamwork within the forum, while working closely with the Chairman to deliver programmes that reflect the needs and aspirations of members.

He said his administration would prioritise inclusive leadership by carrying every segment of the community along, irrespective of background, and ensuring that the forum becomes a stronger platform for youth development and community service.

According to him, effective leadership is measured not by titles but by the ability to inspire hope, unite people behind a common vision and provide practical solutions to challenges confronting the community.

“Together, we can build a more united, peaceful and progressive Rock Haven. With collective commitment, active youth participation and visionary leadership, we can leave behind a stronger forum and a better community for generations to come.”

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Plateau State has appointed its immediate past State Chairman, Hon. Chris Adukuchili Hassan, as the Director-General of the 2027 governorship campaign of its flag bearer, Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement signed by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Dr. Samaila Achigak A. Rukuba.

The party said the appointment marks the beginning of a new phase of its campaign as it intensifies efforts to reclaim Government House, Little Rayfield, in the 2027 governorship election.

According to the statement, Hassan’s emergence as Director-General is a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership, political experience and grassroots mobilization capacity.

The PDP described the former state chairman, popularly known in political circles as “Mr. Power Capture,” as a seasoned party administrator and strategist with a proven record of delivering electoral victories.

It recalled that Hassan served as Plateau PDP Chairman from 2021 to 2025, during which he led the party to victory in the 2023 governorship election that produced Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Shortly after his appointment, Hassan paid a courtesy visit to Chief Ropshik, where both leaders held strategic consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship race.

The meeting focused on strengthening the campaign structure, expanding the Plateau First Movement across the grassroots and consolidating support in all the 17 local government areas of the state.

Chief Ropshik expressed confidence in Hassan’s ability to lead the campaign, saying his wealth of political experience would be instrumental to the success of the movement.

“I have every confidence in Hon. Chris Hassan’s capacity to provide purposeful leadership. Through unity, discipline and strategic coordination, the movement will continue to inspire hope and build the momentum required to secure victory in 2027,” Ropshik said.

Accepting the appointment, Hassan thanked the party leadership and Chief Ropshik for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work closely with party leaders, stakeholders and members of the campaign council to deliver victory at the polls.

He called on party members to remain united, disciplined and loyal, stressing that every appointee must uphold the PDP’s values and winning tradition.

The party added that “the recovery of our stolen mandate remains a mantra for us,” expressing optimism that Hassan would drive the campaign towards success in 2027.

The Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council, Mr. Pam Musa, has formally declared his intention to seek re-election ahead of the union’s 2026 executive elections.

Musa said his decision to seek another term was driven by the desire to consolidate on the achievements recorded during his first tenure, deepen members’ welfare and continue contributing to the growth, unity and professionalism of the council.

Speaking shortly after obtaining his nomination form at the NUJ Secretariat in Jos, Musa said he was seeking a second term to consolidate on the gains recorded under the current leadership of the council.

He said the achievements of the past three years were the result of teamwork, stressing that he would continue working with the executive to strengthen the union and improve members’ welfare.

“By the grace of God, I am re-contesting for the position of Vice Chairman of the NUJ Plateau State Council for a second term because we have seen the efforts we have made together as a team.”

According to him, the present leadership has promoted greater unity among chapels, improved professionalism and projected the image of the council positively within and outside the state.

The list was presented by the Plateau State Coordinator of RHGN, Hon. Ayuba Dutse, during a visit to the National Coordinator’s office at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Presenting the document, Dutse expressed confidence in the newly constituted state and local government executives, describing them as competent leaders committed to driving the Renewed Hope Agenda across Plateau State.

He said the officials were carefully selected based on their commitment, capacity and grassroots reach, expressing optimism that they would strengthen mobilisation efforts across the state.

“Our vision is to mobilise and campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a resounding victory in the 2027 election. We have assembled a team that is ready to take this message to every grassroots community across Plateau State,” Dutse said.

He noted that the group’s structure now covers all the 17 local government areas, providing a strong platform for engaging party faithful, community leaders and other stakeholders in support of President Tinubu’s re-election.

“We will only achieve meaningful success if we work together as one family. Victory for one is victory for all. United we stand, divided we fall,” he added.

For years, Hon. Hitler Joshua Pwajok was better known as a grassroots political mobiliser than a candidate. From coordinating youth-driven campaigns to rallying support for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates across Plateau State, he largely remained behind the scenes, helping others secure electoral victories.

Today, the political equation has changed.

Having emerged as the PDP candidate for the Barkin Ladi State House of Assembly seat ahead of the 2027 general election, Pwajok is now seeking the mandate of the same people he spent years mobilising to support other candidates.

His political profile rose significantly during the 2023 general election when he served as Director-General of the youth-led “Time Is Now” campaign, a movement that mobilised thousands of young voters and played a key role in the emergence of Barr. Caleb Mutfwang as Governor of Plateau State.

The youth mobilisation structure became one of the defining features of the PDP’s grassroots campaign, coordinating volunteers and expanding youth participation across the state.

Following the victory, Pwajok remained active within the PDP, coordinating grassroots mobilisation and youth engagement for several candidates during elections and party activities.

His ability to build support at the ward and community levels earned him recognition as one of the party’s dependable grassroots organisers.

His appointment as Special Adviser on Youth Mobilisation and Engagement to Governor Mutfwang marked another phase of public service.

In that role, he worked with youth organisations, student bodies, community leaders, civil society groups and development partners to deepen youth participation in governance and strengthen engagement between government and young people across Plateau State.

One of the landmark initiatives during his tenure was the Plateau Youth Agricultural Empowerment Programme (PYAEP), through which 1,000 youths drawn from the state’s 17 local government areas were engaged in commercial agriculture at BARC Farms.

The initiative brought together beneficiaries irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliations, with the aim of creating jobs, boosting agricultural productivity and promoting peaceful coexistence among young people.

Beyond government programmes, Pwajok continued to champion youth inclusion through leadership forums, stakeholder engagements and grassroots mobilisation, reinforcing his reputation as a bridge between government and young people across Plateau.

Now carrying the PDP flag in Barkin Ladi, Pwajok is presenting himself as a candidate whose political journey has been shaped by years of mobilisation, public service and community engagement.

His campaign is centred on improving security, tackling youth unemployment, strengthening agriculture and providing effective legislative representation.

Upon receiving his certificate of candidacy from the PDP’s Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee, Pwajok described the moment as the fulfilment of a long-held aspiration and reaffirmed his commitment to selfless service.

He said his focus would be on ensuring that Barkin Ladi receives effective representation in the Plateau State House of Assembly while addressing the constituency’s pressing security and economic challenges.

Pwajok also maintained that the era of politics built on unfulfilled promises must come to an end, insisting that representation should be measured by performance, accountability and visible impact.

He further expressed confidence that the PDP, under its current leadership, is united and prepared to offer what he described as a progressive and people-centred alternative for Barkin Ladi, Plateau State and Nigeria.

The Plateau State chapter of the Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria (RHGN) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as his unwavering commitment to the development of Plateau State through strategic appointments, infrastructure projects and humanitarian interventions.

The commendation was made by the State Coordinator of RHGN, Hon. Ayuba Dutse, during the inauguration of the State Working Committee of the group at Kalwa House, Jos.

Dutse said President Tinubu had given Plateau a renewed sense of belonging through the appointment of qualified sons and daughters of the state into key positions in the Federal Government.

“These appointments have restored confidence in our people and demonstrated that Plateau has a place in the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

He particularly applauded the emergence of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a landmark political achievement for the state.

He also commended the appointment of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, saying the appointment has further strengthened Plateau’s voice at the federal level.

He also praised the appointment of Prof. Nora Daduut as Nigeria’s Ambassador of Republic of Korea, describing it as another recognition of Plateau’s growing relevance in national leadership under the Tinubu administration.

The RHGN coordinator equally praised the appointment of Mr. Cyril Tsenyil as the pioneer Managing Director of the North Central Development Commission, noting that the commission is expected to accelerate development across the North-Central region, including Plateau State.

He further highlighted the appointment of Mr. David Daser as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), saying it reflects the Federal Government’s confidence in Plateau professionals to drive Nigeria’s digital transformation.

Dutse said the appointments were complemented by major federal infrastructure projects currently underway in the state.

He cited the flag-off of the 40-kilometre Babban Lamba-Sharam Road in Kanke Local Government Area by President Tinubu, describing the project as one that will improve connectivity, boost agriculture and stimulate economic activities in rural communities.

He also lauded the ongoing dualisation of the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe highway, saying the road corridor remains one of the most strategic transport routes linking the North-Central and North-East regions.

According to him, the completion of the highway will ease the movement of people and goods, reduce travel time and enhance commercial activities across Plateau State.

Dutse further commended President Tinubu’s response to the recurring security challenges in Plateau, particularly his visit to the state and his assurances of sustained federal intervention to restore peace.

“We appreciate the President’s commitment to finding lasting solutions to insecurity. His visit to Plateau reassured our people that the Federal Government stands with them,” he stated.

He also applauded the Federal Government’s approval of ₦2 billion in relief support for victims of attacks in Plateau, describing the intervention as timely and compassionate.

The RHGN coordinator equally acknowledged the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for donating ₦1 billion through the Renewed Hope Initiative to support internally displaced persons and victims of violent attacks in the state.

He noted that the First Lady also empowered 500 women in Plateau with business grants to strengthen small-scale enterprises and improve household incomes.

Dutse further commended the Renewed Hope Scale-Up Grant initiative championed by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, saying the programme has created opportunities for young entrepreneurs and small businesses across Plateau State.

He added that the Federal Government’s ongoing investments in digital innovation, youth empowerment and regional development would further position Plateau for sustainable economic growth.

“President Tinubu has shown through appointments, infrastructure, humanitarian support and economic programmes that Plateau remains an important partner in national development. We believe these interventions will continue to benefit our people,” Dutse said.

He therefore urged Plateau residents to continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing confidence that the administration would deliver more democratic dividends to the state in the years ahead.

Dewan Questions Gagdi’s Nine-Road Claim

Former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan, has challenged the Chairman, House Committee on Navy and All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, to substantiate his claim of constructing nine roads in Pankshin Local Government Area.

Dewan threw the challenge in a statement issued on Sunday, after Gagdi featured on a live programme on Rhythm FM, Jos, where he spoke on constituency projects and other issues relating to his stewardship.

The former Speaker said the people of PKK deserve verifiable facts on projects executed with public funds, insisting that accountability should be based on evidence rather than political rhetoric.

“My only request is simple. Identify the locations of the nine roads you claimed to have constructed in Pankshin Ancient City and provide details of your constituency projects for public verification. The people have a right to know.”

He argued that attempts to shift attention from the issue would not answer the questions being raised, maintaining that public officials should always be ready to account for their stewardship.

“Shifting the discussion to the EFCC or ICPC does not answer the questions being asked. Accountability must be anchored on evidence, not intimidation.”

Dewan also dismissed allegations of irregular recruitment during his tenure as Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, insisting that every appointment followed due process and remains open to verification by the appropriate authorities.

“I have nothing to hide. The records are available, and the relevant authorities can verify every recruitment carried out during my tenure.”

The former Speaker maintained that he welcomes lawful scrutiny of his activities in public office but urged Gagdi to equally provide documentary evidence to support claims of projects executed across the constituency.

He stressed that transparency and accountability remain essential principles of democratic governance and should guide every public office holder.

“The people of PKK deserve facts, not distractions. Public office holders owe the electorate transparency, honesty and accountability.”

Dewan reiterated his readiness to meet the federal lawmaker on any reputable radio or television platform for a live discussion where both parties would present documentary evidence for public scrutiny.

“I remain available for a live debate on any reputable media platform. Let us present the facts and allow the people to judge. The question still remains: Where are the nine roads you claimed to have constructed in Pankshin Ancient City?”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Barkin Ladi (Gwol) State House of Assembly in the 2027 general election, Hon. Hitler Joshua Pwajok, has vowed to end what he described as the politics of empty promises, assuring constituents of purposeful and result-oriented representation.

Pwajok made the pledge shortly after receiving his certificate of candidacy from the party’s Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee.

He described the moment as a major achievement in his political journey and expressed confidence that the PDP remains the right platform to deliver good governance.

“This is a very joyous moment for me as a candidate to represent the good people of Barkin Ladi. First, let me start by appreciating God because the journey started like a dream,” he said.

The PDP flag bearer said his ambition is rooted in service, selflessness and a desire to ensure that the people of Barkin Ladi enjoy quality representation.

He identified insecurity and youth unemployment as major concerns requiring urgent legislative attention.

“What is due for the people of Barkin Ladi is gotten and taken to them. To ensure that at every level, we are active partners with the people of Barkin Ladi to move the local government forward,” he stated.

Pwajok also criticized politicians who make campaign promises but fail to deliver after assuming office.

According to him, the people deserve leaders who are accountable and committed to development.

“I know a lot of people are tired of it. Politicians normally come and make promises. But for Barkin Ladi, I can guarantee that it is not going to be business as usual.”

He said he was seeking election not to occupy a seat but to make a meaningful impact on the lives of his constituents.

“It’s either you perform or you are being shown the exit door. At this point, I’m not ready to be shown the exit door because I’m here to stay. I will definitely do my best and ensure that Barkin Ladi gets the right representation it totally deserves,” he declared.

The PDP candidate also praised the leadership style of former Plateau State Governor Jonah David Jang, describing his legacy of selfless service and development as worthy of emulation.

Pwajok expressed confidence that under the current PDP leadership, the party’s candidates would offer a united, progressive and people-centred alternative for Plateau State and Nigeria.

Member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has assured his constituents that his third term in office will bring greater development and improved representation.

Gagdi gave the assurance on Thursday during the flag-off of the rehabilitation of the Babban-Lamba–Sharam Phase II Road in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State.

He expressed appreciation to the people of Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam for their continued confidence in his leadership, saying their support over the years has strengthened his resolve to deliver quality representation.

“You did not regret sending me to the National Assembly for the first term. You did not regret sending me for the second term, and by the grace of God, you will not regret sending me for the third term.”

The lawmaker pledged to sustain effective representation by attracting more federal projects, improving infrastructure, and expanding opportunities in education, healthcare and youth empowerment across the constituency.

Gagdi described the rehabilitation of the Babban-Lamba–Sharam Phase II Road as a major intervention that would improve transportation, boost agriculture and stimulate commercial activities in Plateau State and neighbouring states.

“This road is more than an infrastructure project. It is an economic lifeline that will ease the movement of farm produce, promote trade and improve the livelihoods of our people.”

He also commended the growing collaboration between Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, saying the partnership would attract more federal presence and accelerate development across the state.

“The spirit of cooperation we are witnessing today will open more doors for Plateau State. When leaders work together, the people are the greatest beneficiaries.”

The federal lawmaker further praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the equitable distribution of infrastructure projects across the country, noting that the road project reflects the administration’s commitment to inclusive development.

He urged residents of Plateau State and Nigerians to continue supporting the Federal Government, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms would produce lasting benefits.

“I appeal to our people to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The investments in infrastructure and other critical sectors will translate into greater dividends of democracy for all Nigerians.”

The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has presented Certificates of Return to its certified candidates for the 2027 general elections, charging them to unite the party and begin grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.

The certificates were presented on Monday at the party’s secretariat along Yakubu Gowon Way, Jos, in a ceremony attended by party leaders and stakeholders.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Choji Felix Dalyop, the party congratulated all its certified candidates, describing the presentation as a major milestone in its democratic process.

The PDP said the Certificates of Return symbolise the confidence reposed in the candidates by party members and serve as their official mandate to fly the party’s flag in the 2027 elections.

It stated that the party remained committed to unity, grassroots engagement and democratic principles as it prepares for the elections.

According to the statement, the party would continue to foster a united front, consult widely across all local government areas and constituencies, and uphold justice, fairness and the rule of law.

The party named Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs as its governorship candidate, while Chief Austin Pam Dalyop emerged as the deputy governorship candidate.

For the Senate, the party presented Certificates of Return to Hon. Kumzhi Godwin Nanmwa for Plateau South, Hon. Wuyep Musa Labar for Plateau Central and Hon. Davou Bogom Baget for Plateau North.

The PDP also unveiled its candidates for the House of Representatives and the Plateau State House of Assembly across the state’s federal and state constituencies.

The party commended its Interim National Working Committee (INWC), led by Dr. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, alongside state stakeholders and supporters, for their resilience and commitment throughout the primary election process.

The statement urged the candidates to return to their constituencies with confidence, engage the electorate and work towards securing victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.

“The journey to absolute victory begins now. Go out into your respective constituencies with confidence, engage our people with a clear vision, and let us collectively secure the future of Plateau State,” the statement said.
