Ahmed Musa, Nigeria’s most capped footballer, has officially retired from international football, bringing an end to a remarkable 15-year career with the Super Eagles.

The former national team captain announced his decision in an emotional message, stating that he wore the green and white jersey with pride from the age of 17 and gave everything in service to the country.

Musa holds the record as the most capped Super Eagles player with 111 appearances, a milestone that places him among Nigeria’s greatest football legends.

He is also Nigeria’s highest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history, scoring historic goals at the 2014 and 2018 tournaments, moments that remain unforgettable for Nigerian football fans.

The Kano-born forward was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, cementing his legacy as an AFCON champion.

During his career, Musa captained the Super Eagles, providing leadership on and off the pitch and serving as a role model for younger players.

In his retirement message, he thanked Nigerians for their unwavering support and affirmed that his heart would “always beat green,” despite stepping away from international duty.

Following his playing career, Ahmed Musa now serves as the General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, where he continues to contribute to Nigerian football in an administrative and leadership capacity.
