Producer-turned-singer, Young Jonn, has turned down a collaboration request from rapper Blaqbonez after digging up an old social media post in which the Chocolate City artiste appeared to prefer producer DJ Coublon over him.
The exchange began after Young Jonn called for five friends to form a close-knit group, prompting Blaqbonez to express interest in joining the proposed crew.
Young Jonn had written on social media, “I need like 5 bad friends way we go dey move in bulk!”
Reacting to the post, Blaqbonez said, “Oya, make we dey together, sing as one,” signalling his willingness to collaborate with the singer.
Young Jonn, however, responded by resurfacing a 2015 tweet attributed to Blaqbonez, in which the rapper had compared him with DJ Coublon and indicated a preference for the latter.
Sharing a screenshot of the old post, Young Jonn replied to Blaqbonez’s collaboration request, “Go sing as one with Coublon.”
The unexpected response turned what appeared to be a simple collaboration request into a humorous social media exchange between the two artistes.
Blaqbonez subsequently explained that the controversial tweet was made by his social media handler in 2015, distancing himself from the opinion expressed in the decade-old post.
The exchange has since attracted reactions from fans, with the resurfacing of the old tweet highlighting how posts made early in an artiste’s career can resurface years later.
Both Young Jonn and Blaqbonez are currently associated with Chocolate City, one of Nigeria’s prominent record labels.
