As part of activities marking this year’s Children’s Day, the Patience Niri Godwin Charity Foundation (PNGCF) reached out to students in Du ‘B, Topp Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State, bringing both education and essential supplies to mark the celebration.

On Monday, May 27, 2025, the foundation visited two schools — St. Georges Schools Topp Rayfield and Preye Model Academy behind Rayfield Golf Course — where over 400 students benefitted from the outreach program. The visit focused on educating students about personal hygiene and self-management, especially during puberty.

Health professionals were invited by PNGCF to speak to the students on vital topics, including cleanliness, menstrual hygiene, and puberty. The sessions aimed to equip teenagers with knowledge to manage their physical development confidently.

In addition to the health talk, the foundation donated sanitary pads to female students and writing materials to male students. The CEO of the foundation and former Face of BYM National, Miss Patience Niri Godwin, said the donations came from her personal resources.

“From the little I have, I’m supporting girls with pads to manage their hygiene and providing boys with writing materials to support their education,” Miss Patience said. She also called on NGOs, groups, and individuals who share similar values to collaborate in bringing relief to communities in need.

The head teacher of St. Georges and the principal of Preye Model Academy both appreciated the gesture and described it as inspiring. They encouraged other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the efforts of Miss Patience in addressing the needs of young students.

The students were also guided on the importance of making wise career choices as they grow, with emphasis on having goals and holding on to their dreams to succeed in life.

Christopher Dung Chollom, the PNGCF coordinator, praised Miss Patience for her resilience and commitment to making a difference. He noted the bond within the foundation team, thanking the CEO for showing love, patience, and equality to every member.

MC Kelly Mumu added excitement to the event by entertaining the students with jokes before the distribution of the donated items. His presence added fun and made the experience memorable for the students.

The outreach is one of many by the foundation, which continues to support less-privileged communities across Plateau State with the goal of easing the burden on vulnerable groups.
