The re-election bid of Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has received a major boost as 299 councillors representing all electoral wards in the state under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) unanimously endorsed him for a second term in office.

In a statement issued by Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, the endorsement motion was moved by Alhaji Adamu Sale Hassen, Councillor for Gangare Ward in Jos North LGA and Deputy Chairman of the National Councillors Forum of Nigeria (Plateau State Chapter), and seconded by Hon. Noro Davou Dung of Ta-Hoss Ward in Riyom LGA. It was overwhelmingly adopted by all councillors present.

According to the lawmakers, their support for the Governor is based on his “noble achievements, people-centered policies, and leadership style that have positively transformed the lives of Plateau citizens.”

Responding to the endorsement, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him, urging councillors to remain committed to grassroots representation. He described them as “pillars of democracy at the grassroots” and emphasized the need for synergy between the executive and legislative arms of government.

“You have become councillors under an administration determined to improve the lives of the people of Plateau State. Our goal is to transform Plateau in every respect, and you are the vital link between government and the people. Take this responsibility seriously and remain connected to your wards,” the Governor stated.

He assured the councillors of continuous government support while charging them to embark on voter registration mobilization to enhance Plateau’s political relevance. He also encouraged them to engage with stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community associations.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Jeremiah Jerry Satmark, commended the councillors for owning government projects in their wards and advised them to mobilize communities to support and monitor contractors for quality delivery.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Affairs, Rt. Hon. Istifanus Mwansat, described the engagement with all 299 PDP councillors as historic, noting that the Governor’s direct interaction with grassroots lawmakers reflects his commitment to deepening people-oriented governance.

The event, which was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Commissioners, Special Advisers, and leaders of the Nigerian Association of Councillors Forum, ended with renewed commitments by councillors to work hand-in-hand with the executive in advancing the development agenda of Plateau State.
