As International Day of Peace also known as “World Peace Day” a Day set aside by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly is commemorated today, the Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency and the Senate Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Plateau Northern District, Hon. Simon Mwadkwon Ph.D has harped on the need for the citizens of Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency, Plateau North, Plateau State and Nigeria to embrace, build and strengthen peaceful coexistence, saying peace is a critical ingredient and panacea for National prosperity.

According to the Academic cum Politician, there is no alternative to peace and charged the people to accord greater concentration to issues that binds them together and eschew bitterness through genuine love, repentance, reconciliation and forgiveness to heal their hearts, homes and lands.

He hinted that this Year’s theme ‘End Racism. Build Peace’ is apt and timely considering the adverse impact of racial discrimination and other form of stereotype and profiling which has caused disaffection among human race.
“We must first see ourselves from the point of humanity. God didn’t create us to show segregation of any kind, but rather to love as exemplified by Him.
This is one among the reasons why our first Constituency has remained humanity.
We must speak against hateful speeches and promote messages that are against racism through our interpersonal relationships and other diverse ways. It is important that we preach, speak and practice peace by making it our watch word ” he said.

He said no development nor self-fulfillment can be achieved in a society devoid of peace.
